Honey Care understands that to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder beekeepers, it has to create financial value. This means improving social conditions and in a way that supports the environment instead of exploit it.
We have committed ourselves to enhancing livelihoods and preserving the environment. Our emphasis is on smallholder farmers, women , the environment and healthy living.
Our strategy and business model are to operate in effective and scalable solutions to sustaining livelihoods while preserving the environment, empowering women, and promoting healthy living. Even though we currently procure from select agents who work directly with farmers in different regions, in over 15 years, Honey Care built infrastructure like collection centers, worked with producer groups, and conducted thousands of beekeeping training.
The ideal strategy for sourcing pure and natural honey in East Africa is a hybrid of working directly with farmers, working with agents in specific regions, and having bulk supply brokers. This is due to production volatility occasioned by business relationships, seasons of the year and changing weather patterns.
We have impacted thousands of farmers, sourcing from over 3,000 in East Africa at fair trade prices. We work with honey aggregators, majority of them being women. All our honey products are pure, natural, healthy and nutritious, with no artificial additives.
